Steep game is a video game expected to be out soon and it is based on the open door and extreme sports. It was developed under Ubisoft and it is available for Xbox one, Playstation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The game puts emphasis at the online multiplayer and it focuses on the competition in different winter sporting challenges with different players online.
Steep is the game based on the extreme sports and it is set in Alps or in an open world free which is free for the players to enjoy. The game may be played as third person or a first person perspective and the two can be switched whenever the player wants to. The game uses GoPro camera in the races. There are four activities in the game and they are paragliding, snowboarding, wingsuit flying and skiing. The players are able to switch between the two activities through the use of the menu wheel of the game.
Steep is focused more online and the players should share the same world to play and to engage into different activities at once. The players may also collide with one another and they are able to enable such collide feature. In order to navigate the entire world faster, the player may use mountain mode and it shows the drop zones during the game. Such drop zones may serve to be the points for fast travel. There are different hidden races with challenges together with secret area that can be discovered around the road and you can unlock them while exploring this world. The player will get a pair of the binoculars and they may be used in discovering even new locations.
This game has a trick system and it allows the player in performing special technique like graping or spinning when snowboarding or skiing. The players may receive points when they are able to perform these tricks. If a player is able to perform the best race, they can get a medal to be their reward. If the player crashes in these challenges, they are allowed to retry again at once and to view amount they have in the g-Force according to the damage the character endured during such crash. While players are participating into the activities, the trail can be recorded in automatic way and this will be viewed through entering in a mountain mode. The player is able to replay, to rewind and to pause and even to take the screenshots and to view them based on the performance data or other experience of the players. The replays may be shared into the community of the game and on social network websites. The player may set and share the trail they had to be a challenge to other players.
As Ubisoft said, the game has four play style: an explorer style may task the players in exploring the world and to discover even new challenges or new locations. Freestyler is about the accuracy and precision of the tricks. Bone collector style does reward the players who perform crashes and stunts. The Freerider is used to describe the mix of different three play styles for which the players may get the rewards when they explore this world and when they perform such accurate tricks or when they take the risks in performing different stunts.
Steep gives a free reign into the open world area around Alaska and Alps. You are able to choose if you want to wear a pair of the skis, paraglide, wingsuit and snowboard, so that you can get your way to the powder-white planes available. The game offers many challenges around mountains where you may try or beat the friends or you may also get more scores.
The game is able to take you in or out of different locations. Technology seems as if it had been taken into The Crew and you can press the button in order to bring up the map of the world, to move the cursor where you wish to go and to press the button when you have reached where you want to go. The game had been improved over the open world racers that the company had developed before and it brings about immediacy to move from one mission to another mission.
The first mission you may be given is the downhill race. You are given a snowboard that has a marker about where the mission starts and then other three racers may join you. All the three stands for the time that you need to get gold, silver or bronze medal. Everything in the game is instantaneous and you do not have to pause in order to set up a new race or to wait so that the game may load.
The game requires you to slide and to slip between mountain cottage and trees and this is something fine but there is nothing more to that. When you fall, you are allowed to hold at Y button so that you may restart everything one again.
The SSX tricky is the area where the Steep game had been able to shine. When you start to race downhill, you will have to hit at the trigger in order to jump. You may find out that you can rotate the right stick in order to do the flips or to left stick if you want to land at your own feet. You will have to use the right trigger to do the tricks and grabs. This means that you only need to use only one button so that you can do all these grabs. However, this means that each jump will turn into monotonous series of holding down the right trigger, to rotate the right stick and to grab the right trigger once again while sticking to land. There is no way that you can try to get the combos and to pull off the right moves before you can do the board games.
The game looks a little serious and you will have to do all the winter sports such as snowboarding, skiing, skydiving and parachuting. The game is more about multiplayer mode since it has a MMO style for the online community and this is where the players are able to freeroom and to challenge other players or to work together. What you are promised is that it is possible to bump into other players even if you may be doing your own sports.
When you start the game, you can start it at the mountainside while hiking the way to the wing suit which is a drop zone. As far as you are in the best area, you are able to change the equipment using just one click and the right bumper for hitting up at the d-pad changes the time of that day.
When you switch to the wingsuit, you can step off an edge and you can start to glide down towards the mountainside, you may end up slamming in the tree. The controls of the game are too straightforward, the left stick will move you down or up or side towards the other side while the right stick will activate the small dodge at the left or at the right. In the score attack mode, objective had been to score the points through getting closer at the ground, rocks or trees as it is possible. The other mode is called Checkpoints Race, this is where the players may hit a certain number of the precariously placed checkpoints and some can be passing through an opening in the electrical tower and to place the racing against the group of the opponents. However, it is not easy to finish such race.
The skiing and the snowboarding are the same while the controls are the reminiscent for the games such as 1080 Snowboarding or SSX. The players may use the left stick in order to stick to the opposite direction and this makes the player to snowboard or to ski backwards. Jumping can be controlled through holding down the trigger and then to release it near the lip to jump. The trigger is then released by flicking the left or the rights ticks in the given direction and this is the results of spin or flip. When you are in the air, it is possible to hit the triggers once again and to pull of the grab.
The controls used are intuitive even if there are some problems when it comes to get the momentum as you continue to play towards the mountain. However, when the steep incline, then the speed will be harrowing. An entire experience had been made in visceral under GoPro perspective and this recreates the feeling of the shakiness of the head mounted camera with the subtle rattling sound that it is heard with the footage of GoPro. This may be disorienting at a certain level but at the end, it is a cool addition and it makes the player to wonder what it is going to be this game in the VR.
