Hattrick is one of the oldest online football manager games. Football manager games have been a popular genre on the PC for a long time. But having an MMO aspect to it is what sets Hattrick apart.
The MMO Manager Game
In Hattrick you are the manager of a football team. This means that you handle everything from training to positioning and transfers. Hattrick came out in August 30, 1997, and since then it kept growing and the developers added new teams and new country leagues. In fact there are now 128 countries each with a different league pyramid. That’s a lot of content.
There are currently 650,000 players and the game is translated in 51 different languages. The leagues usually work similarly to real leagues. The teams on the first place advance to a new division and the teams on the last places fall down. The game basically plays as a regular football manager, as in you handle all of the economic, tactical aspects and training, while you have no control over the matches.
Hattrick has a very complex management system, and even if you are not a fan of football, you might be drawn to it by its gameplay. Whether you love football or tycoon games, or both, you should give Hattrick a try. And the fact that it is an MMO gives Hattrick another layer of tactical thinking, appeal and competitiveness.
It is a great game, but I don’t think it should even qualify for a Game of the Year award. The fact of the matter is that this game came out in 1997 and it won Game of the Year in 2011.
Considering that it is one of the first, if not the first, online football manager games, it scores a lot of points in this department.
This game is really fun, and once you get over the initial hump of the learning curve you will find yourself constantly thinking about the game.
Hattrick has been running since 1997 and since then it has gathered 650,000 users.
Hattrick is an MMO football manager browser based game with a very complex system of managing your teams.
