I AM NOT A GAMER! There. I said it. I feel so much better! However, I DO play Facebook games. I am also a member of an online MMO game called MagicDuel! Is there a distinction? Does that make me less of a gamer? I guess it would depend on your own definition of what a gamer really is. Anyhoo…It’s my job to give you my perspective so, let’s talk about Game Awards on Game-Debate.com, shall we?
On http://www.game-debate.com/awards/2015 it was voted by you, the players, that the Game Of The Year 2015 award goes to, The Witcher 3. According to the author Felix Nova on this website, “it beat some big games, one of them being among the biggest games ever, Grand Theft Auto 5, which was out on PC this year. It also beat Juggernaut and Fall Out 4.”
Best Indie 2015 went to Rocket League and Most Anticipated Game of 2016 went to Mass Effect: Andromeda. Let’s go back to that word, Indie. (I had to look it up, novice here!) By definition, according to Wicki, Indie games [are video games created without video game publisher financial support usually by individuals or small teams.] I learned something new! FABULOUS!
So, let’s check out how the voting process works on Game Debate. Underneath the top three Featured games of Best Survival Best Sci-Fi, and Best Co-Op, there are two drop boxes. The first box being “Select Award” and the second box being “Select Nominee”. So, you select the category and then you select which game you think best fits. Easy and straight forward. Even a cave man…er…novice can figure it out. You can even tweet your vote for a change to win free games every week.
So, for those of us who aren’t in know and might want to learn something new, what the heck is The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine? According to author, Sam White, on www.telegraph.co.uk, it is an expansion pack to Wild Hunt; developed by CD Projeckt Red, [a bleak world of war, suffering and destruction. It was a strangely beautiful place to inhabit, but never a pleasant one, frequently bordering on the grotesque both in its monstrous creature design, and the horrific actions of its human characters.]
Blood and Wine, however, [things are quite different. Rather than a war ravaged wasteland, or an archipelago on the brink of civil war, famed monster hunter Geralt of Rivia travels to the southern region of Toussaint – a gorgeous unspoiled stretch of countryside.] Sounds pretty good. I’m going to have to look into this!
So, here is my list of what I like to call, Good vs. Bad:
- You can win stuff if you tweet about them.
- Voting was quite simple and straight forward.
- Has clear of list of awards, 19 places http://www.game-debate.com/awards/2015
- Graphics of games are outstanding.
- It is not clear how the awards are given.
- It is does not list what kind of games you can win.
- Except for Best Indie, there are only 4 choices out of a multitude of games that could win.
- I don’t understand why Best Gamers Case is even a thing!
After all is said and done, this is a pretty website. Even players new to gaming can learn quickly what game is popular and what game is the best of the best. You can even scan your computer to see if it is compatible to play certain games. I respect the work that goes into making games and the people who cry, bleed, sweat, and tear their hair out creating them.
