Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is an adventure game based on the mysterious murders. It was developed under Spike and it is the first installment in the series of Danganronpa. The game had been released first in Japan for a Playstation Portable and afterwards, it was released for Android and iOS devices. The game has been adapted into two mangas and two spin-off novels have already published. The game also has a television anime with a stage adaptation that has been adapted based on its story. The game has a sequel called Dangnronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and it was released in the Playstation Portable in 2012.
To play Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, the player takes up Makoto Naegi’s role. He is a student of the Hope’s Peak Academy and he finds himself already trapped within the game of mutual killing among the students. This gameplay is the same to Ace Attorney series and it revolves on investigation and in finding the contradictions but is emphasize more on a faster gameplay. Every chapter in the game has two styles for its game play, there is a school life and the player has to explore it in order to advance and to progress within this story and the Class Trials where the player has to deduce a culprit for the crime.
While in School Life, a player is able to explore a school ground using the first perspective and more areas in the game will be available as the game continues. In one of different rooms, the player may move the crosshair cursor and it is used for initiating the conversation using characters or examining parts of such environment. Being able to examine the objects will lead to Monokuma Medals and it may be used in the capsule machine within the school shop in order to unlock the gifts.
The school life is found in two different sections, there are Deadly life and Daily Life. Within the Daily Life section, the players may converse with different characters and he may move the plot together with them. There are some comments that the player may react to and they will reveal more information. In the designated Free Time segment, the players may choose hanging out using specific characters while giving them some presents.
In the return, it may reveal even more information on them while unlocking different skills which may be necessary in the Class Trials. When a crime scene gets discovered, a game will turn to Deadly life Section and this is where the player should look for the clues within the academy.
The testimonies and the evidence that the player is able to gather, they will be stored in the e-handbook of the player when the player may also save his game. When the evidence had been located, the game will go back to the Class Trial. Before going to Class Trial, a player may assign the skills that he has unlocked and it can assist them in the gameplay.
Class Trials section is the main part of this game since the students need to ask themselves who is a culprit. However, the exception is when the player has to answer some questions or to present the evidence. The Class Trials has four main styles for the game play. They are Hangman’s Gambit, Nonstop Debate, Closing Arguments and Bullet Time Battle.
The gameplay which is the most common is called NonStop Debate. In these section, a player may be armed using the Truth Bullets and they are metaphorically the evidence that contains the evidence which is relevant on this discussion. The player may also silence the disruptive purple chatter in order to earn some extra time and to use the concentration meter in order to slow down the conversation and to make the shots to be much easier. These sections will be difficult as the game continues and there are more weak points that are being added to them while later trials may require the player in using one remark like ammunition against the other. The Hangman’s Gambit is based on the shooting puzzle and it is the section where a player has to shoot down some letters which may spell out the clue.
The Bullet Time is the battle which is a one-on-one debate towards another students and it features the rhythm style gameplay while the components are able to make the remark. The player should lock in the remarks and shoot at them. The Closing Argument is the puzzle for which the player will piece together the comic strip about how the crime happened. The influence of the player within other characters is shown by the hearts and they will be reducing when the player is making the error while shooting the contraction or while presenting evidence. It will also replenish if the correct evidence has been presented.
The game has to end if the player has lost all his influence or if he runs out of the time in a certain segment. At the end of each trial, the player will be ranked based on the performance with more Monokuma Medals for higher ranks.

He is among the fifteen students who were hand-picked to attend the school because they are brilliant in different fields. However, for him, he joined the school only because he was handpicked in the lottery.
The school has a mischievous and twisted villain known as Monokuma and in the form of the mechanical bear that traps the students in this school and he forces them to start playing a sick game. To be able to leave such makeshift prison or even to graduate, a student should be to kill another student in a cold blood and be able to get away with the killing. The game brings out the nefarious plots that are conjured up by the depraved maniacal ursine robots and they are completely evil.
The game is based more on the visual novel and it is the type of heavy dialogue and text based adventure game which is popular with Japanese. Most of the time is spent by clicking in the dialogue and being told a certain story but not participating in that story. However, it is still entertaining, with vivid and rich character and captivating mystery. The characters can be the smartest and also the most talented kids in the entire world but at the same time, they have weird personality and they have also interesting backstories.
The characters in the game include charismatic and fiery Mondo who is the leader of the biker gang. Kiyotaka is a moral compass and he is obsessed with punctuality and rules. Sakura is a martial artist and he is soft spoken. He is intimidating and he is in charge of protecting weak students. Toko is a prodigy in writing and has low self esteem and she thinks that every person judges her.
Some of the characters in the game may decide to play along to the sadistic game of Monokuma and a person will be murdered. The bear explains to them that if their group is able to show who was the culprit, he will be executed but if this is not the case, then everyone in the school is going to die. This is when the game starts to talk about the murder mystery while Makoto will get a detective’s role. As a player, you will need to look for the clues in the school, get the evidence, interview the people and make the case in a fast paced and challenging trial.
